RV Stonemasons

“After an absolute nightmare experience with a previous company, Kalmac, Russ at RV Stonemasons has completely restored my faith in tradesmen. I own a (nearly) 500-year-old granite fireplace and chimney which Kalmac effectively ruined. They coated the entire thing in StormDry, leaving the granite with an awful permanent wet-look finish, used cement instead of proper lime mortar on a period property, and even painted over the fireplace mortar with white cement to disguise damp issues they hadn't actually resolved. In the end, they were unable to fix the damage they caused. Thankfully, I found Russel. From day one, he approached the job properly, respectfully, and with genuine care for the building. He organised everything seamlessly — scaffolding, specialist sandblasting, even beautiful new lighting — and then worked tirelessly to painstakingly rake out, rebuild, repoint, and repair the years of damage caused by the previous company. The difference is unbelievable. The fireplace and chimney now look authentic again and, more importantly, have been restored correctly using appropriate materials and techniques. Russ is personable, incredibly hardworking, meticulous, exceptionally tidy, and very reasonably priced considering the quality of the workmanship. Nothing was too much trouble, and it's obvious he genuinely takes pride in what he does. I honestly wouldn't use anyone else going forward and cannot recommend RV Stonemasons highly enough. If you care about quality craftsmanship and want someone who actually understands historic stonework and period properties, Russ is your man.”

“I'm absolutely delighted with the results of my new entrance, completed by R-V Stonemasons. Russell takes great pride in his work and delivers perfection from start to finish. He always ensures that the best-quality Jersey granite is used, and the craftsmanship really shows. I'm particularly pleased with the finished result - a beautiful new door entrance with stunning stone walls, flagstones and two beautiful reclaimed Jersey pink granite steps. I would highly recommend R-V Stonemasons to anyone looking for quality workmanship, attention to detail and a truly professional finish. I couldn't be happier with my new entrance!”

“We couldn't be happier with the work Russ from R-V stonemasons has done for us. He lime pointed our chimneys and cottage to an excellent standard, and we're absolutely delighted with the finished result. Russ was incredibly reliable, tidy and professional throughout. He kept us informed every day about how things were progressing when we were off island, which was really reassuring, and we always felt we could trust him completely. He's also a very honest and genuine person, which made the whole experience so easy. It's not often you find someone who combines excellent workmanship with honesty, reliability and a great personality. Russ is a real perfectionist and takes huge pride in his work, also making his own lime mortar. We would highly recommend Russ to anyone looking for a skilled, trustworthy and conscientious stonemason. Thanks again, Russ — fantastic job!”
